    Hi all,

Does anyone know of an EMR that has a decent bereavement component?  We have a large bereavement program that does individual, couples, family and group counseling and we need an EMR that we can document in that is separate from the hospice business unit.  We are using Netsmart for hospice, but it has almost nothing for bereavement.

I would love to hear what others are using and their input on it.

    Thank you,
    Kathy

We have always had Suncoast Solutions and feel it does a good job with bereavement, as compared to other software options. Bereaved clients have a chart that is separate from the hospice family member although there is a 'link' to the patient's chart for our hospice bereaved. We're a good size bereavement program and serve over 9,000 bereaved individuals a year.

I think mostly all EMR's drop the ball when it comes to bereavement.  We have had Netsmart and now Optima/Net Health neither of which have had a good bereavement section.  We have voiced our concerns with both companies but nothing seems to get done in this area of hospice.

We use KanTime, and while it does have a separate BRVT module, that is truly the ONLY functional asset of the program for me.  If your org is considering using this program, PLEASE message me first so I can give you feedback.  We are counting down the days until our contract expires – has been a nightmare for every discipline in our company.

We use EPIC and it works really well -- reporting and documenting.

We purchased, from Netsmart,  a separate business unit that we call the Bereavement business unit.

Family members of patient who are being followed for bereavement are added at the time of the patient's death.  Careplans are built and all charting is in that unit.  We could also add community bereaved as well.

Sorry for the delay in reply....just stepping back in to bvt. role and saw this.  Out of 4 different systems, the very best so far is EPIC.  Currently, Netsmart DeVero is not at all adequate.  It's as if bereavement was an afterthought.  Not user friendly or functional.  Would never recommend it.

I've been using EPIC for about 3 years and find it easy enough to navigate - better than others I've used once you get to know it.
