June 2020 Bereavement Professional Community Chat
While many grievers face the complexities of complicated grief in response to the death of a person they are connected with, the majority of grievers we support are daily challenged by the common distinctive grief reactions: Sorrow, Anger, Guilt, Fear. These reactions in a normal environment may impact a grieving person’s daily ability to cope and adapt to a loss, but in the age of this pandemic with the accompanying regulations, compounded losses, and multitude of stressors these emotions have been amplified for our bereaved. In this chat we explored and discussed unique and diverse therapeutic techniques that may be utilized with individuals struggling with these intensified reactions.
This chat was facilitated by NHPCO Steering Committee members Karen Monts, LBSW,MS,Trauma Loss Certification and Diane Snyder Cowan, CHPCA,MA,MT-BC
