Support Groups: From theory to practice (Chat Slides & Recording)

08-27-2019 07:32 PM

Many bereaved wonder if they should go to a support group. We hear comments such as I don’t want to be around a bunch of sad people or I can handle this by myself. Once there, they are often relieved to find comfort and support from others with similar experiences. In this chat we reviewed the benefits of support groups, the basics of providing groups, what to do in groups and alternative options to traditional groups.

This chat was facilitated by MYNHPCO Bereavement Professional Community Leader Diane Snyder Cowan, MA, MT-BC, CHPCA, Director of Bereavement Center, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc in Cleveland, OH and co-facilitated by MyNHPCO Bereavement Professional Steering Committee Member Cindi Gray, LCSW, Family Services Manager, South Coast Hospice, Coos Bay, OR.
