Hello friends, I am struggling to find resources for a family (in PA if that matters) that experienced the sudden, accidental death (gun related) of their child with significant autism challenges. The death was not a murder, suicide, overdose, violence or crime, so they do not fit in to any of the specialized categories that I am aware of. I have referred them to Compassionate Friends and recommended therapy with an experienced trauma practitioner. The request is for support for the parents, I am not aware that there are any other children in the family. Any resources you can point me toward?

    Hi there!

If you're in PA it may be helpful to reach out to Highmark Caring Place. They do some great work with children but I know they've only got two locations and you're asking for support for parents. I'm sure they could give you some resources though.

    Hope this helps!

If the practitioner you recommended does not pan out, try the Colombia Center for Complicated Grief's list of Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy practitioners.
