I apologize if this question has been posed before, but I am wondering how family members who decline bereavement follow up are handled by other hospice bereavement coordinators? I begin the bereavement service conversation at admission, and I allow families to decide what follow up they are willing to receive and for how long. The services are available for 18 months, but some people choose only a couple of phone calls for a couple of months etc. I am concerned we may get dinged for not forcing the 18 months of follow-up but I also believe people should decide for themselves.
