  • 1.  Bereavement Groups by Area

    I am working via phone with a child of one our patients.  She is in the Elgin, SC area.  I found grief share information for her area.  I have searched for hospices but not come up with any bereavement groups listed on their websites or have updated information on groups.

    Where do you start when you are trying to find groups for someone outside your geographic area?
    Are there any national websites that help locate groups?

    Every hospice in the country has a state organization and most hospices in each state belong to the state organization so I always encourage people to locate the state organization and call them

    Indeed Patti is correct!  State Associations are a tremendous resource.  They will have listings of hospices throughout their state.  You may find several listed on the state association webpage that you also found doing the google search.  While the hospices themselves may not have updated websites, I have found calling those hospices directly is very easy to do and they are more than happy to quickly tell you about, as well as email information about their upcoming or current/ongoing support groups.
