  • 1.  Online EGSS Survey

    Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone has been utilizing the email distribution of the EGSS survey. I know it has been temporarily disabled due to technical issues, but is there any news on it's return or how others were using it before it was disabled? Thanks!

I am not, but I'm curious if those who use it find it helpful or get enough responses that will give valuable feedback.

Our organization uses an external vendor, SHP, to send and analyze both of our CAHPS and EGSS surveys. They send our surveys via mail and email, unless caregivers or bereaved decline a particular method, or decline receiving them at all. The use of email is new this year and I am not certain what % of our overall surveys are returned that way at this time but am going to ask our Quality Manager if that's available information to us!

We have used the email version, I believe for three months before it was disabled. It was very nice to be able to send surveys electronically, but the only data that could be gathered was semi-annually by reporting period (either the first half of the year or the second half of the year), and we record and report on data monthly for quality purposes, so we weren't able to isolate that data without finding a complicated workaround of some sort. I would also say that it was unfortunately one of the least user-friendly interfaces I've used. The terminology was confusing, and despite entering a reply email for results to be sent to, the only way to view responses was in the Qualtrics system, again semi-annually only. It would be so nice to be able to more readily compare to national averages, which is a feature it does offer! But it was so confusing that I didn't really ever know what I was viewing. It was all lumped together so to say.

    Merrin,

Thank you for sharing your experience!  It was a great prompt for me to reach out to our partners within NHPCO to find out more!  What I learned through NHPCO's Quality Coordinator is below, and she welcomes other questions from anyone who needs additional support or information. My own organization does not use NHPCO's platform for distribution nor analysis of the EGSS data, even though we do use the survey. We have an external vendor. If your or other's interested in this post also use an external vendor, the latter response I realize will not be applicable. My apologies if that is the case. Hope this may be helpful to you or some others.  Thank you again for sharing!

    1) The email distribution option for EGSS survey is currently unavailable due to the technical issues. We do not have a definitive time frame for resolution. We will keep you posted via the NHPCO communications channel if/when the service resumes. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience in this matter.

    2) As for the NHPCO bereavement survey (EGSS), users have the ability to view the reports by selecting different options within the filter settings.  For instance, year, reporting period, recorded date, etc. The users can enter surveys, view/print reports and enter the surveys distributed with the EGSS dashboard. NHPCO EGSS portal also automatically updates the data in real time. If there is any specific question or need assistance with navigating the EGSS portal/dashboard I'd be glad to assist. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

    Hope this helps.
