Navigating the Holidays

A few weeks (months?) ago I posted asking for ideas about this year's Navigating the Holidays Seminar and how others were handling holiday bereavement events. I wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who responded with ideas to include in our kit and share what has come of all of that -

    Kit
A couple things on the way but we are including -
DVD of what we normally provide as an in person seminar (and QR code on the back to stream :))
    Booklet to follow along
    Gift Tag Activity
    Bath Bomb
    Peppermint Candle
    Heart Hot Pad
    Heart "Feeling Stone"
Still Coming - Candle Holder with 4 tea light candles to go along with candle ritual in the video
    Peppermint Bark
Card with Local Artwork on the Front and Hand-written message inside

I'd love to hear what others are doing and learn from everyone. Thanks for being a supportive community.

    Hi Bethany,

What a beautiful offering!  Our budget would not allow this type of gift.  I am currently unsure what to do.  Typically I would host a workshop on making memory boxes and sharing grief support resources.  Not this year.  I am open to hearing other ideas!

    In Peace,

    Diana

What a great idea! Our hospice sent out holiday family hits to help families navigate the holidays with children. We sent out a few grief art activities, an ornament, and some grief resources for the parents. I love your kit for adult bereaved though! A lot of great things in there!

I know it is kind of late, but it seems with technology, things can happen faster than they used to.  I just invited, last week, through emails, our Hospice families and other community members to a 3-week series of support sessions beginning Monday Dec. 7.  I've attached the flyer.  In 3 days I had 10 people sign up, which is a lot for our area. I think people are hungry for support right now, as they grieve, and as they try to navigate COVID and the holidays. Wishing you all well.

That is a wonderful idea!  How did you come up with the curriculum for your sessions and how do you intend to structure them?  I am curious because I have a lot of bereaved that are refusing visits due to covid or they are uncomfortable about receiving any kind of counseling.  I am not sure how tech savvy they are, but this might be something that they would be interested in?  I would like to know how it turned out for you!

    Hi Amanda,

I came up with the curriculum on my own and felt it was important to build in significant time for coping techniques. So many are lost as to what to do as many of the things they might normally do are now off-limits.  The structure will be fairly tight as we will meet for an hour.  I would be happy to share my outline with you if you like. Thank you for asking!

    Hi Diana,

I'm interested in hearing/seeing more about what you're offering - please! I'm trying to get something like that going at our hospice (for the community) and would love some fresh ideas!

    Thanks!

    Hi Amanda,

Coping would be such a great sharing for everyone.  Maybe you would consider posting for all of us and then we can chime in with other ideas?

    Thank you!

    Brenda

I did something similar to Diana, flyer attached. A four-session group on support during the holidays via ZOOM. My support group attendance has been spotty at best, but this one seems to be getting some traction.

Could you provide me with the materials or course outline you are using for this?
