    Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have a resource they give to families with children/adolescents who are experiencing grief? I was looking for a handout, maybe like a FAQ quick guide.

    Thanks so much!!!

    Hi there,

I am going to attach a PDF of a booklet that we created regarding children and grief.  We provide a monthly workshop for anyone caring for a grieving child, and this is the "textbook" for the class.

I hope it is useful to you!

Two handouts that are really good from Quality of Life Printing Co

    For children: Heart Shaped Pickles

For teens: When Teens are Grieving

Both good to give the child /teen.

Both good resources to work with caregivers in assisting teen/child with grief .

HFA's Special Adolescent Issue of Journeys  "For Kids, By Kids" is written by older children and adolescents about their own grieving experience and can be used as a resource for families. I have not seen it so I cannot comment on it's content.  For a free copy, please email lveglahn@hospicefoundation.org.

I like the NY Life Foundation's publication, A Child in Grief http://www.newyorklife.com/achildingrief

You can download a PDF version from the attached link or order hard copies for free. Our social workers routinely bring copies to families with children. I always give a copy to the parents of children in our children's bereavement group at the beginning of the year. Parents report that it is helpful, especially around crafting appropriate language, offering practical tips for including children in rituals and helping adults to understand childrens' grief needs.
