We follow the model of providing structured support groups for a defined period of time, and suggesting to participants that they follow up with each other to continue meeting on a "social support" basis. Some do so for years afterward, others choose not to meet at all. Having something advertsied in a newsletter and coordinated by a bereavement volunteer might provide a good option for those who may not have bonded with their small group but still want that social connection.
