In February's Bereavement Professional Section Chat we explored the needs of bereaved children when a loved one is on service. We discussed and recommended areas to examine from the onset of pre-bereavement services up through death notification and bereavement. Concepts such as developmental responses, alleviating fears, truth telling, and age-appropriate interventions will further our ability to compassionately advocate on behalf of children who are grieving an impending death.
The chat was facilitated by Melissa Lunardini, MA, MBA, NCHPP Bereavement Professional Section Steering Committee Member, Children's Bereavement Manager, The Elizabeth Hospice, Escondido, CA.
