Getting Started

4 Easy Steps to Start the My.NHPCO Experience

Using the community tools to connect with your peers, search for relevant information and communicate with each other in a private, secure network is easy! You don't need to take an in-depth training class - all you need is a desire to connect with your peers and the enthusiasm to share what you know with others. Getting started on My.NHPCO.org takes three simple steps:

 1. Login with your NHPCO login account

All current NCHPP (National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professional) members have their own user ID and password.  In fact, all staff and volunteers of our organizational members are entitled to complimentary NCHPP membership. If you don’t know your Member ID/Password or need to set one up, contact NHPCO's Member Service Center at 1-800-646-6460.

 2. Click on "My Network" to update your NHPCO Professional Profile

Your profile already is populated with the basic information from your current member record. You don’t have to add any more information if you choose not to. Adding a photograph is also optional.  However, the additional fields will let you tell other members a bit more about yourself.  You need only share and/or add information that you are comfortable including. You can update or change your profile information at any time.

 3. Search for your colleagues and add them to your contact list

You can build your own network of contacts out of all the other members currently using My.NHPCO.  You can group your contacts by interest or topic or region – whatever seems to make the most sense for you. This is also optional and something you can do over time if you choose.

 4. Join eGroups based on interest

If you like the current NCHPP listserves you’ll love eGroups!  Each hospice/palliative care discipline or job function has a “section” within NCHPP that promotes networking among peers.  Each section has its own eGroup allowing people with common job functions to collaborate and share information with one another.  There are also eGroups based on areas of interest and other professional topics such as pediatrics or rural issues.  You may join any of the open eGroups to begin reaching out and networking with other members who share a discipline or an interest. eGroups each have their own discussion thread which is an enhanced version of our old listserves.  By participating in the eGroup discussions, you’ll stay connected in the same way as the old listserves helped connect you to the field.
