November 2017 Bereavement Professional Section Chat
Grief knows no season. Yet grief during holidays and other times of significance can present unique challenges for bereaved. This month’s chat will explore what are some of the things that make certain times of year uniquely difficult, the variety of ways that individuals and families may cope, and tips for bereavement programs on how to help the bereaved navigate holidays and special occasions through both individual support and group programming. Attendees are invited to inquire about and to share what has and has not worked within their programs! We look forward to a rich discussion as a season of multiple popular holidays approach.
The chat will be facilitated by NCHPP Bereavement Professional Section Steering Committee Member Joelle Osterhaus, MSW, LCSW, LICSW, ACHP-SW, Hospice & Home Based Palliative Care Psychosocial Services Supervisor at Kaiser Permanente Continuing Care in Portland, OR, and co-facilitated by NCHPP Bereavement Professional Section Leader Diane Snyder Cowan, MA, MT-BC, CHPCA, Director of Bereavement Center, at Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc in Cleveland, OH.
