Hey, everyone. My father Ronald P. Danals passed away a week ago yesterday morning. I was holding him when he took his last breath. My niece Jenna put her hand on his chest and felt his last heartbeat. Then a beautiful, solemn African-American nurse named Kitha put her stethoscope on his chest for a full three minutes, replaced the stethoscope on her neck, nodded, and said, "I wanted to be sure."
Just letting you know that this ol' Chaplain / Bereavement Coordinator / Volunteer Coordinator at Guardian Angel is feeling sad / happy / grateful / joyful /sorrowful and overwhelmed right now. I could sure use your prayers as I navigate this awestruck time of my life.
Dad was a great man. He made a ministry of woodworking at Indian Run United Methodist Church in Dublin, Ohio. When I asked him to come up with a design for hand-held wood crosses, he went straight to work. He went downstairs to his work bench. When he came back, he had the prototype of what would be thousands of crosses, each with a small stand, beautifully painted and ready to give to any of the Christian hospice patients, preschoolers from his church, college students, and so many others.
What an amazing legacy he has. I am so very grateful to be his daughter.
Blessings and peace,
Cynthia
